John Martin's (Worcester Foundry) earliest bell is dated 1644. In 1645 he
cast a bell for Droitwich, St Andrew's, and in "Church Bells of
Worcestershire", Walters comments "The date of this bell is remarkable,
there being hardly another existing bell in England cast in this year, and
the inscription GOD SAVE THE KING is hardly less noteworthy; but
Worcestershire was, of course, a strongly Royalist county."
