The threads stripped out of the bolts securing the top end of the
clapper causing the failure, no problem with the wood or design, just
the fixing. Mk2 is under way.

Does anyone know how the wooden-shafted clapper at Birmingham Cathedral
broke? Did the timber split or did one of the metal parts break?
