I was here 2 weeks ago, nice church down a long country lane.
These are taken from the church guide:
3 Bells - 2 are chiming in a turret on levers and 1 is in the church
window
Bell 1: 15" Diameter - Inscription: "SANCTA CATERINA BEATA." Cast
around 1445. Unhung, on display in the church.
Bell 2 (1 of 2 hung in turret): 1955. Inscription: "JOHN TAYLOR & CO.
FOUNDERS. GLORIAM DEI CANO. MCMLV. IN MEMORIAM PIERS REA."
Bell 3 (2 of 2 hung in turret): 18" Diameter - Recast in 1955 but
former inscription reproduced on recast bell: "ANIMA MEA REQUIESCE IN
PACE 1687. Taylor Loughborough. Re-cast 1955" Stamp reproduced of a
bell between the letters W S - suggested William Sellar of York - cast
between 1662 and 1687 - or William Scott of Wigan - cast between 1673
and 1703.
Anyone have any more info on these bells as I know that church guides
can contain a lot of errors?
