Hello Everyone,
The next facsimile book is in the works. An advertisement will appear
in the Ringing World shortly.
It is Tintinnalogia 1671. The only known original copy of this edition
is located in The Bodleian library in Oxford.
The original 1668 edition itself needs no explanation as it was the
first book to be published on change ringing. The 1671 edition has
identical content to the 1668 edition, only the first page is
different. The first edition was published as a facsimile copy in 1970
and is no longer to be found easily.
For many years the author was considered to be Fabian Stedman but it has
since been established that the author was Richard Duckworth.
The Bodleian library has done a great job of photocopying the original
and the printed and bound facsimile copy will be as good as the recently
published Thackrah. The only negative item is that The Bodleian
required a license fee to print and sell 50 copies of this rare item,
hence the slightly higher price.
Future facsimile copies under consideration continue to be Monk's 5th
edition of Campanalogia Improved (1766) and also the 2nd edition of
Campanalogia (1698).
However, a reprint of Troyte's 'Change Ringing', 4th edition, 1901, has
been suggested and this is now being photographed for publication later
in the year.
Prices, including postage and packing, are as follows:
