Vegetables, of course, were sold by lbs, cwts, etc until the E.E.C. did away with our British system.  Potatoes are still sold in the same size paper sacks as of old, as the original weight of half cwt (or two quarters) is equivalent to 25.40 Kilo.  The sacks are now marked as holding 25 Kilo.  Containing just slightly less potatoes than previously!
