"The earlier message saying the front four would be retuned seems to
suggest that it is the 2 tenors which are being got rid of, which
would fetch more money."
 
I read that as meaning the front four of the six. I don't think it can
be the tenors because a) according to Dove they're listed and b) if the
front six of an eight were to be tuned to make a true six it would be
necessary to tune the 2nd, 3rd and 6th down a semitone or recast several
bells.
