The recovery of George III from one of his periodic bouts of madness was marked by John Briant of Hereford. He used the inscription

UNFEIGNED PRAISE TO HEAVENS AND ALMIGHTY KING
FOR HEALTH RESTORED TO GEORGE THE THIRD WE SING

At Hanwell (1789) St Ebbe Oxford and Littlebury Essex (1790)

these bells are still there.

At hanwell where the bells are currently out of the tower there is a local legend that there was a mix up with one of them and it was swapped with one destined for somewhere else. A common enough local legend!!

Does anyone know of any evidence to support that idea or have anything interesting to add to that tale or these inscriptions??
