I have e-mailed the AR team to find out  how they got their facts so wrong.  I'm not holding my breath for a response!!

In her introduction Fiona Bruce explained that a minster was created by a community when priests and the local community got together to finance and build one as a mother church.  She explained that the difference between a cathedral and a minster is that the cathedrals had monastic origins, whereas minsters were community mother churches.  She said that Southwell is one of only five minsters in the country!”


            Not having a television, I never see such programmes. Are the Antiques Roadshow’s introductions generally like this – i.e. complete bollocks?
