Hereford museum contains a small iron bell from Marden, which is close to where Ethelbert, King of the East Angles, was murdered in 794 AD. A similar bell (now in the Horniman museum in London) was ploughed up in Bosbury in 1890, and the Pitt-Rivers museum in Oxford has another of these so-called Celtic Christian bells, which date from the 7th - 9th centuries. They are common in Ireland, and to some extent in Wales and Scotland.

I presume English Heritage are aware of these iron bells, but they may not be since they come from the primitive Celtic fringe of the British Isles.
