The similar (in the sense of A-frames on timber base beams) unsatisfactory 8
bell  frame at Ashby de la Zouch was replaced a couple of years ago by:

 

A ten bell frame utilizing the re-used castings sitting on steel beam bottom
sills, etc, lower in the tower.

 

It is quite satisfactory!
