Not many around that can true up a set of plain bearings now either.
Thank goodness for Mr Warner's patent self aligning plain bearings.

Personally, I still think well engineered and carefully looked after
plain
bearings take a lot of beating.

Indeed, but the trouble is that all too often people can't be bothered
to
oil them regularly.
