 The CHURCH BELLS of YORKSHIRE

Diocese of York, EAST RIDING

By George A Dawson

It is now well over a century since Revd. Walter Consitt Boulter (1848-1912)
published a list of the inscriptions on bells in the area in the Yorkshire
Archaeological Journals volumes 2 & 3. That work indicated that the East
Riding is a rich source of medieval bells.

This work is the culmination of research first started by the Author in the
1960’s examining all the bell installations, and identifies the founders of
the great majority of the bells in the area. It also includes research on
the bellfounders producing the bells, particularly the pre- & post-
reformation founders in York

The book consists of 302 pages, included numerous photographs & 23 pages of
founders marks.
