If I remember the 28dayslater photos, the bells were so exposed and
obviously derelict that you probably couldn't ring them without major work
(even if the structure was considered safe).

Surely the structure can't be so dangerous as to make it impossible to make
sure the birds are kept out. And the peal boards and anything else in the
ringing room is kept safe? It was certainly safe enough for the persons
taking the pictures for the 28 days later web site.
