Hello all, a newbie here in every sense of the word. I am trying to find reference material to validate a statement from the Fred Dukes 1994 book "Campanology in Ireland" where he stated that the earliest bell cast by Murphy of Dublin is the 1843 bell in the RC church (sic) - it is a cathedral, in Tuam in County Galway, Ireland. Dukes book concentrates on bells cast prior to 1830 and this reference is merely in passing while discussing the Murphy foundry. Unfortunately a source reference re the Tuam bell is not provided. Does anyone know of any reference material re. Murphy that verifies Mr. Dukes claim? Many thanks for taking the time to read this.
