The 2nd letter is published in today's DT. Since I cannot find a link to it,
I reproduce the short letter below. Make what you will of the words 'as
edited'.

'My letter on preserving old bell frames (October 22), as edited, did not
make clear my main point, that historic bell frames can often be repaired
for continued ringing. It is just that not every set of bells has to be as
easy to ring as every other.'

I wonder why they are giving him a '2nd crack of the whip' though.
