Yes, both the previous wooden frame and the current G&J low sided cast iron
frame (with later extensions) are diagonal.

I look after the diagonal frame at Strensham and the most annoying thing 
about being diagonal is that the spare space which could be used to augment 
is made up of lots of triangle shapes!

Chris' list is most interesting - am I correct in thinking that St Mary's 
Nottingham are diagonally positioned in the tower?
