Hi All,
After some additional thoughts about the date involved, I would concur that 'prche' would be correct, being short for 'paroche' or 'parish'. The word 'purchase' would not have been used and shortened that early.

It would appear from the above that the churchwardens accounts for the period when Sir George Fleming was vicar of Brigham (1705 to 1737) survived until 1895 as Rev. Whitehead remarked on them so there is a good chance they still survive. Moreover if Rev. Whitehead was correct and George Fleming was indeed `a careful and methodical man' then these accounts may give the details of all the work done on the bells in 1711.
