Hi Cathryn
 
Bell profile & particular canon form/ornamentation appear way to early to be 18th c.[see; photo attachments]. 
 
The lettering style has been described by my correspondent as 'inconsistent' and even 'childish'...  I shall inspect for any other potential clues &/or foundr's marks.
 
But I agree about the translations - 'Nicolaus (the) Angel made me'.
