[Bell Historians] Ship's bell at Newport? [1 Attachment]

I have been asked to assess a bell hanging in the small turret of the church of St Matthew, Barnards Town, in Newport, Monmouthshire. The church is being made redundant. I have not seen the bell yet, but it is thought that it might be a ship's bell. The bell does not appear in Wright's "Monmouthshire", nor does it appear on the NBR or indeed any lists that I have access to. I have been provided with the attached, rather poor-quality picture. Anyone got any ideas?
