> Chris Pickford: "It really needs someone to go and look at what remains in order to disentangle this satisfactorily, but I've certainly explored the accessible documentary sources already."
I was in contact with the organisation that now runs the building, "The Highland Club", in 2008. I spoke to the manager and received an e-mail from one of his staff. They knew about both the large bell (I believe from memory that it is housed on a stair landing) and the clock chime. As it turned out they were interested to get the clock chime working and so I passed on some details of clock companies. I was invited to visit if ever I was passing but I am afraid that I have not had the opportunity since then. The bells seemed to be known about and valued.
