The picture accompanying the article is a bit unhelpful as it doesn't appear
to relate to the stated location of the bell. It shows the western end of
Howrah Bridge with the city of Calcutta in the far distance, on the other
side of the Hooghly river. Howrah Station is the big complex of buildings
on the right. There were obvious practical difficulties in taking the
railway across the river into the city itself.
For those interested, Howrah St Thomas church, which used to contain a five
change ringing bells cast by Warners is about half a mile away to the
photographer's right. It's in in an area below the level of the roads in
the foreground. It appears to have been built primarily to serve the Anglo
Indian community working for the East Indian Railway.

This news article unfortunately has no photo of the bell in question:

The bell, dated 1832, was "sourced from London's G and C Company [and]
weighs nearly 100 kg."
