The waxoyl solution is the one I usually suggest when I get American enquiries via my website.

Hi Peter. I have worked on them in the past. The Liverpool lot got theirs at Hale, blast cleaned and then painted them with waxoil. Other than that, hangings are pretty conventional but often include clapper lifters (like springs on handbells).
