I thought so too, but on reflection the possibility that the 
"bellringing as a sport" question might at sometime lead to a formal 
application for recognition, the history of the commissioning and use of 
bells hung in churches could become significant. I would think that bell 
historians might have quite a bit to say about that. I know that church 
bells were commonly put to secular use but are there clear cases of 
bells being commissioned by non-religious bodies being hung in churches 
for primarily that purpose? I exclude clock bells unless hung for ringing.
