[Bell Historians] Re: Tower classifications

Surely one of the factors to be considered is the position of the tower in  
relation to the body of the church. Is a detached tower evidence of a  
secular ring? What about a tower at the west end etc? I suspect only the history 
 of individual churches can provide any answers.
