[Bell Historians] Sound control examples

Dear all,

Can anyone name some examples of sound control systems in place which
comprise horizontal trapdoor movements in a floor, rather than either
shutters on the louvres or a floor trapdoor which swings open in the
vertical direction.

I am looking at options for a tower where the sound control needs to be
effected by closing a hatch in the floor, but where there is no room for
a hinged trapdoor to swing up above or down below the floor. When open,
the bells are viewed though this open hatchway, so the aperture needs to
be complete clear.

I have a few ideas, but in all my travels, I can't think of anywhere
where a horizontal plan solution has been used.

Thanks.
DrL
