[Bell Historians] Sunderland Town Hall bells

I did an FOI request with Sunderland City Council. It said that they had only one of the bells in storage and the diameter suggests that it is the hour bell.

The story is that the quarter bells were stored in the car park at the then new Civic Centre, from which they were stolen. The hour bell was stored in a different place, near to the Royal Infirmary Hospital. Though it no longer exists, the FOI suggests that the bell was moved elsewhere when it closed.

I am preparing the “Great Bells” list in the Dove database. Can anyone confirm what has happened with the 78cwt chime that used to hang in Sunderland Town Hall? Different sources suggest that they are either in storage or have been stolen. Mike Chester’s list suggests that the weights are/were: Warner 1889 8-0-1, 9-3-14, 13-0-7, 23-3-15, 78-0-11 (74").

Thanks.
