Let's not over-elevate Preston. It was definitely only a town when said building still existed.

I am preparing the “Great Bells” list in the Dove database. Can anyone confirm what has happened with the 78cwt chime that used to hang in Sunderland Town Hall? Different sources suggest that they are either in storage or have been stolen. Mike Chester’s list suggests that the weights are/were: Warner 1889 8-0-1, 9-3-14, 13-0-7, 23-3-15, 78-0-11 (74").
