This weekend I'm going over to bath for my cousin's wedding and naturally I have researching a couple of the towers locally as well as the abbey which I will be ringing at this Sunday for morning service, I have however noticed that there isn’t much anywhere about the 24cwt eight which where destroyed in the blitz and I was if anyone on list might have rung with older ringers who might have remembered them?. My 1936 B and W report gives them as having a regular practice ( where they only seem to have rung grandsire ) but for whatever reason they don't seem to have been that popular for peal ringing with the last recorded one being in may 1931 !.
Regards Oliver Lee
P/s the same also seems to be true with the rudhall eight at st James ( also destroyed) and as there is no mention as to weather ringing was possible I'm tempted to believe that they where unringable
