Does anyone happen to know whether the 1862 George Mears & Co. bell at
Navestock, Essex replaced an earlier treble of five, or whether this is
the date of the augmentation from four? Deedes and Walters' 'Church
Bells of Essex' doesn't say, and Mortant's 'History and Antiquities of
Essex' (1768) doesn't say how many bells there were at the time. I cn't
find any newspaper reports around the time of the 1862 casting. The
Ringing World articles on 1965/275, 1981/843 and 1982/688 don't help.
