[Cherry-hinton-ringers] Cherry Hinton practice next week & Community Groups Fair

Hi All

Thanks for joining us at Cherry Hinton on Tuesday - we had a good evening.

Just a couple of things to let you know about:

Next weeks practice - 10 August
I can't see the way clear to definitely say at this stage that I'll run practice next week - does anyone want to run practice next Tuesday ?

Community Groups Fair, Cherry Hinton church/yard, Sat 18 September
We've been contacted about an event taking place in the church and churchyard 1pm - 4pm on Sat 18 Sept run by a committee responsible for showing that community groups are up and running again. They have asked if the bellringers want to be involved.

I'm in two minds over whether we participate so am wanting to gather your thoughts.

A few considerations as below:

  *   we could do a short demo of ringing (would suggest min of 3 people to make this work on a low-key level) and a short history of the bells (which we already have).
  *   suggest if we participate we offer a 1pm-3pm attendance given people tend to visit at the start/from 2pm at an afternoon event.
  *   would need someone prepared to give any really keen visitors a short go at ringing if required / or do what we can with the bells down - or we just say not at this time given current situation and provide a demo.
  *   realise that we may pick up a learner or two from this (or not)...but if we do how do we feel as a tower about  the commitment and teaching capacity/risks, especially in current climate.
  *   logical place for us to be is in the tower area however we will be mixing with a wider community indoors, albeit with doors/windows open - there will be differing views on this.

Although music, food and beer from the pop-up pub in the churchyard until 10pm !

Much to consider - thoughts please by end of Saturday.
