Morning all
First, congratulations to the band who scored a quarter peal of Bob
Minor yesterday. That is our first this year!
Second, I am IT tomorrow night, and thinking of the next quarter peal
opportunity on the 12th of May, I'd like people to look at Single
Canterbury Bob Minor (attached); maybe we'll have a band to have a go at
it tomorrow. The plain course is fine - Bob Minor but with the 3-4 down
dodge and 4-3 up dodge replaced with place down and up - but the bear
pit is what happens at the calls. Technically they are Plain Bob calls,
ie if about to make 2nds, run out 2-3 to become 3rds place bell; if
about to make places up, run in 3-2, becoming 2nds place bell; if about
to make places down in 4-3, make the Bob (4-4) becoming 4ths place
bell. The catch is what happens next: 3rds place bell does one blow in
3rds before coming in; 4ths place bell does one blow in 4ths before
going out. It takes a little effort getting one's head around this, but
practice makes perfect!
See you tomorrow
Ian
