Evening all!

Further to Caroline's email, the workers have cordoned off the outside 
of the tower. You can still walk on the path to get to the backdoor, but 
the outside of the tower is to be limewashed.

More importantly, in the bell chamber the workers have used carabiners 
to clip plastic-coated steel cables to the bell chamber roof, and 
haven't been too careful in where they placed the long cables.  I think 
it would be wise to check where the cables are before raising the bells; 
it would not be good if a bell stay snagged a steel rope - something has 
to give!

My suspicion is that the cables will be taken through the roof door, and 
snaked down the outside; at the end of the day, it would be very 
tempting to pull up the cables and drop them over the bells, ready for 
the next morning.  On the positive side, the contractors have been 
recommended (by the Diosecan architect?) and ought to know about the 
dangers of bells, but ...
