Parity
(Called the in and out of course when I started ringing and discovered this
method, I am sure I was not the first, but when I sent it to the RW in ?1964
no one said I knew that)
To find the parity of any row, for each bell count the number of bells below
it which would be above it in rounds. The total is either even (positive
or in course) or odd ( negative, out of course). No need for diagrams
or calculators.
