I think in general it will work but you may introduce double and triple
x's in the notation. Eg the extension of Bristol S Major to Royal in
this manner would be:
x70x16.70x70.18xxx30.14x14.50x14x10.lh.10
Obviously you could from a true alliance method by deleting to of the x's.
