Here is a refinement upon my earlier suggestion. In this you first define
the basic unit e.g. Plain Hunt is x16 and treble-bob hunt is x12x16.
Subsequent rules refine this by substitution for the basic unit (i.e. the
same PN length). This overcomes the handstroke / backstroke / snap problem.
As before the bell position relates to the position the bell would be in
after the rule PN is executed.

It seems quite concise for these examples.

720 PB Minor

x16
(1 = 1), x12
(1 = 1 & 6 > 4 & 5 < 5), x14
(1456 = 1456), x1234

720 Kent TB Minor

X12x16
(1 < 3), 34x34.16
(1 = 1 & 6 < 4 & 5 > 3), 34x34.14

120 Grandsire Doubles

5.1
(1 = 3), 3.1
(13 = 15), 3.1
(135 = 154), 3.123

64 Dixon's

X16
(1 = 1), X12
(2 = 1 | 4 = 1), x14
