# [r-t] Jump Stedman Doubles

```Last night we rang an extent of a new Holroyd doubles principle - "Jump
Stedman".  This is great fun and very neat - the plain course generates
the extent.
In "normal" Stedman there are two types of sixes - (quick -> slow) which
repeat alternately.
In Jump Stedman there are four types of sixes, which repeat in the order
(quick -> jump down -> slow -> jump up)
The "jump down" six just involves the bell in 3rds place jumping down to
lead, and the bells in 1st and 2nd place sliding up, ie:
123
312
231
123
312
231
The "jump up" six is the reverse of this, ie the bell in 1st place jumps
up to 3rds, whilst the bells in 2nds and 3rds place slide down, ie
123
231
312
123
231
312
(Of course, the bells in 4-5 just double dodge in all four types of
six).
There are correspondingly four way to "go in" to the front - quick, a
symmetric "fishtail" way, and two hybrid slow works that are reverses of
each other.
The figures for the course are below.   It's certainly very interesting
to ring. (You can of course start two changes previously if you want to
begin at a symmetry point)
