I regularly call the 5 part Beverley 5 composition described by Richard Smith although I prefer to start Du- which then gives you the part ends as the leads of the plain course. One could simply pad this out by inserting additional 5 course blocks in without calls and then adding in the plain course method after the second bob.

23456 Du-
23564 Bv Be He Su Bv
23564 Wo Nw Ch Mo Wo-
64523 Sa
56342

Repeated 5 times should (N.b. I have not checked this) give a 1440 all the work in 10 methods. Within the remit of atw Surprise Minor this is not a bad return.

Subject: [r-t] New 41 minor compositions

John Warboys has put several new compositions of the 41 surprise minor on his website (http://website.lineone.net/~jswcomps/), including this rather fabulous new bobs-only composition that has a change overwork every lead.

The overwork-changing concept featured in Richard Pearce's 21-spliced composition that I mentioned in the "Compositions of the Decade" article" (http://www.changeringing.co.uk/wiki/index.php/Compositions_of_the_Decade_3_-_Minor), but John's new opus takes this to another level. Great work.

A different avenue in which spliced minor ringing could resemble multi-spliced compositions on higher numbers would be through the use of a perfect 5-part block. This would of course give atw compositions (I'm not fussed about needing a plain lead of each method).

Richard Smith has a webpage with some examples of 5-part extents (http://ex-parrot.com/~richard/minor/5part/). Have people done much investigating into 5-part Multi-Extent Blocks though? My curiosity is aroused following a recent discussion with Ander Holroyd about the desirability of 5-part structures for minor, and I'd be interested to find out more.
