Very cute!
For the standard 8, I thought about using 4ths/In (with Bristol between
the bobs) followed by another lead of Bristol to bring up the before.
But my searches didn't find any compositions on that plan (restricted to
equal amounts of each method).
Your 8-spliced does the job very well.
Another way of getting the same part ends, although aesthetically
questionable, is to use a 123456 single. (Why should 12-bell ringers
have all the fun?)
