The MIME-digest doesn't exhibit any such problem, since every message is 
included complete with the necessary headers.

The plain-text digest is AIUI sent in ASCII, and does not support 
multiple charsets. After all, the only reason anyone would subscribe to 
the plain-text digest is that their kit is incapable of handling them.
