Excellent comparison of Scala, Python and C++ by Alan. I don't think I 
can add anything to it, except to stress the importance of concepts like 
immutability to successful parallel programming.

On the subject of the lack of a publicly-available ringing library for 
Scala, perhaps Alan and I should collaborate on this. I'm happy to share 
the code I have. If I get a chance I will start a Github project; 
perhaps we can take it from there.
