Having just read the book I can vouch for that, and I did wonder if
anyone had ever rung it since the first performance. The story of
James Platt particularly resonated with me as it involves both of the
towers I ring at - Mottram and Old Glossop - and his name appears on
one of the peal boards in Old Glossop.
