RW > ii) Place notation is the way to find extensions.

Place notation is a very efficient way of describing the method but I fail to see it's importance in extension.

When the methods committee extended Beverley  S Minor by place notation by applying Robins rule (ii) they broke rule (i).

Surely an extension should look and feel like an extension.
