[r-t] Similar compositions

When thinking about ways of automating the discovery of similarity of
compositions don’t forget Roger Bailey’s clever argument that Price’s 5,090
of Cambridge and Tyler’s are actually the same composition, though
involving bits and pieces that are not actually called or rung, since
they'd be false. Whether or not you subscribe to Roger’s belief that they
are the same composition*, it would be interesting to automate detection of
such similarities, too.

* Truth in advertising disclaimer, regarding my own mushy-minded
unwillingness to take a stand on the issue: the last time I called the
version ascribed to Tyler I sent it up as “composed by A N Tyler and/or B D
Price.”
