Hi All,
I hope everyone is well and coping during this lockdown.
Apologies for not sending round an email sooner. I have been thinking about
what we can do via this email. The obvious one is sending round notices of
what is going on to help keep our hands in with ringing without actually
pulling a rope.
You may well have seen the notice that went round the Cambridge and Ely
Districts about a Cambridge District Webinar which will be put out weekly.
There is one tomorrow night starting at 7:30. It would be suitable for
those moving on to ringing a method. Dave Richards, Tower Captain at Histon
advised as follows:
'President of the Cambridge District, Stephen Burr, will be giving a talk
titled 'Blue Lines'. During the course of the talk, Stephen takes a look at
the humble method diagram - a system that allows thousands of unique
methods to be displayed in a simple and understandable way. There will be a
look at the anatomy of the method diagram, how different methods are
classified (when is a 'Surprise' not a surprise?), what really happens at a
bob, and what on Earth is place notation?
The talk is open to all, but is particularly aimed at beginner to
intermediate-level ringers. Please do pass on this invitation to those in
your band who might not be signed up to the district email list.
If you would like to attend the talk please register at
https://us04web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_5bNtMoINQNivCt4Dd38Eeg
The email address that is requested at registration will only be used to
contact you with information directly relating to this webinar (your
registration details, a reminder and then a follow-up after the event).
As Stephen said in the last email, I'm sure several people will already
have got to grips with Zoom. You can attend using a laptop or desktop
computer, or any Android/iOS mobile device.
The talk will also be broadcast live on the district YouTube channel
<https://youtube.com/channel/UC80TYTcsiKj2bQ_XiXgUreA> (although you'll
miss out on any of the interactive elements if you use that route).
There are more talks in the pipeline - events will be published on the
District Facebook page as they're fixed.'
I am hoping these talks will be recorded and if they are I will send out
the link when they put on Facebook.
I think this is a long enough email for now. I will be sending out a couple
more during this week. Please bear with me.
Best wishes,
Louise
