[Stretham-rec] Stretham Ringing Education Centre this week 6th June

Dear Ringer,

We had a fantastic turnout on Saturday, with lots of people interested in
finding out more about bell ringing!

A big thank you to everyone who kindly donated cakes for the event—they
were very much appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed by our visitors.

A special welcome to all those who have joined this mailing list with the
aim of learning the uniquely British tradition of bell ringing. By taking
up this fascinating hobby, you could become part of a small community of
ringers across the country. There are only around 30,000 active bellringers
across the UK, making bellringing one of Britain's most distinctive and
unusual traditional skills. Be warned – bell ringing can become quite
addictive!

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at any time.

Over the coming weeks, we will do our best to accommodate as many new
learners as possible. However, our teaching spaces and volunteer tutors are
limited, so we ask for your patience while we organise lessons.

If you would like to start sooner, I can also put you in touch with your
nearest ringing tower. Most towers are delighted to welcome visitors to
their practice nights and are usually very happy to help newcomers learn.
For younger learners, bell ringing is recognised as a skill for the Duke of
Edinburgh's Award, and we would be delighted to support anyone wishing to
use bell ringing as part of their programme.

We look forward to welcoming you into the tower and helping you begin your
bell-ringing journey.

❗Please note that there will be no Ringing Together practice for our Level
1+ ringers this week. Instead, you are encouraged to attend the District
Meeting at Conington and Holywell, starting from 10:00am. It is a great
opportunity to meet other ringers, enjoy some ringing on different bells,
and learn more about the wider ringing community.
