[Bell Historians] External tuning

I seem to remember Nigel Taylor telling me that the treble of 12 at 
Shrewsbury had been tuned on the outside. I gather that Andrew Higson tried 
some external tuning recently on the Carr bells at Branston, Leics.

A lot of the smaller sand cast G&J carillon bells were tuned on the outside 
and left rough on the inside - I have one dated 1931 which sounds superb.
