We scored the first peal on the 12 at South Croydon last night (Cambridge
Max).

I believe them to be a very good 12 - and as good a 12 as they were a 10.
The trebles match the existing Gillett bells very well.

There are a few problems there that need to be ironed out though. Since 5
new holes were opened up in the ceiling, the volume in the ringing room is
somewhat higher, but it is not uncomfortable. These have now been blocked,
but the volume is still increased. Also, the uneven volume of the back 10 is
now more pronounced given that a 12 bell rhythm has to be discerned, notably
the 10th backstroke, although again, plans are in hand to give this
attention.

They are still quite difficult to ring, and unforgiving cf St Philip's,
Birmingham.

Overall, a big thumbs up.

I have placed a recording from the opening rounds to the peal in the "Files"
section. It was taken with my digital camera, so I would appreciate some
feedback - especially from Bill - about the suitability of this device for
recording bells!
