Well, in the rare cases of awkward ch/wardens you can always tell a
half-truth such as `doing a survey for the Council for the Care of
Churches', half-true because you'll pass the details on to George Dawson.
And if it's an area where the records need updating, say you're doing it
for the records of that particular Diocese - `pulling rank' to put it
harshly - and if you're keen you actually WILL pass the details on to the
authorities as I do in Manchester.
