I rang at Arreton last week, recently restored by Andrew Nicholson. The
bells have been tuned but the tenor note is still quoted as G sharp/A flat.
The old 3rd is now on display in the church, and a new bell has been cast.
However, this new bell is the 4th and the old 4th is now the new 3rd. This
struck me as slightly unusual.
Does anyone know of any other instances where a bell now occupies a position
"higher up" the ring?
