[Bell Historians] headstocks

...Looking recently at a RW article
on the rehanging of Exeter tenor in 1991, the weight of the new Whitechapel
stock is given as 15 cwt. A headstock on the same scale as the York one
would be about 7cwt, so assuming both weights are correct why such an
enormous difference? Any ideas?
The Whitechapel stock is - so I'm led to believe - cast from the same pattern as the Liverpool Tenor headstock, which could account for the increase in size, though I agree not to the proportions suggested.Michael.
